BIOGRAPHY

I am a native Californian, born and raised in San Francisco. At an early age I caught the political bug and volunteered in the 1964 Presidential campaign. By the age of fifteen I was the captain of several precincts in San Francisco.
Then I founded a political organization that spread to high schools throughout the Bay Area.

I majored in Government at college, graduating in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of San Francisco.  I soon turned to the teaching profession. During my nine year career as a school teacher, I also earned a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from San Francisco State University. I also studied crime, which was a problem of particular interest. I co-founded Citizens Against Crime, Inc., a nonprofit organization, and campaigned statewide for a reduction in crime. While still a school teacher, I began attending a singles club that met at the local church. Within a year I was elected chairman of the club. I then founded American Singles Education, Inc., the world's largest nonprofit singles organization, and still serve as its Chairman. (American Singles)

For over 20 years I was the proverbial "mechanic whose car doesn't run." I was teaching tens of thousands of romantic eligibles how to find love, but was still single. Until the lucky day in 1998 that I met my wife-to-be, Debby, at one of my singles conventions. We have been happy ever since. But marriage hasn't diminished my concern for the needs of single people.

One of my main reasons for running for Governor was that someone has to stand up for the 42% of the population that is single and neglected by the politicians. Please read my Fairness for Singles Platform.
